El Planeta newspaper, the largest circulating Spanish-language publication in Massachusetts, has released its ninth annual Powermeter100 list, naming award-winning writer and director María Agui Carter as one of the 100 people most influential people for the Hispanic community, among an illustrious group including Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Junot Diaz. The honorees were recognized at the annual Powermeter reception on Tuesday May 20th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
The Powermeter 100 are chosen by a nomination process open to the public, with over 400 names submitted each year and chosen by a panel of judges from the community and the paper’s editorial council selected those whom based on their merit and influence. The list includes a wide sector of society, 21 percent of the honorees work in the corporate sector and 31 percent work for community-oriented organizations or are community leaders, 11 percent work in the health-care field and 15 percent work with the government and government agencies at city or state level.
